Shobe, desiring to perpetuate her love of art and her artistic talents, hereby establishes an annual monetary scholarship to be awarded to deserving students for the purpose of promoting continued education beyond high school in the field of art. SELECTION CRITERIA: The applicant must have a desire to pursue additional studies/training in the field of Art or Art Education Computer Graphics Architecture Design The selection committee will give preference according to the above order. The applicant must have demonstrated a desire to perform at the level of their ability by good school attendance and effort. The applicant must show respect for the rights of the students and citizens of the school and community. The applicant must show respect for both public and private property. The applicant must have a 2.0 GPA (based upon a 4.0 grading scale) for all school work above grade 8, or demonstrate exceptional artistic talent. Any interested students that will be graduating or have graduated from Decatur Community High School (or a future high school that serves the city of Oberlin, KS) who feel they qualify by meeting the above criteria are urged to apply. SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS: The scholarship recipient will be determined by a committee consisting of the DCHS principal, DCHS counselor, DCHS art instructor and at least one family member. The scholarship recipient will be announced at the annual DHS Awards Assembly by a representative of the Shobe family. The amount of the scholarship will be $1,000. The first $500 will be sent to the recipient upon proof that the recipient has enrolled for a full term. The second $500 will be sent to the recipient upon proof that the recipient has enrolled for a second full term. The scholarship may be applied towards the tuition, books, materials and/or fees at the college, junior college, trade or vocational school of the recipients choice. Any portion unused by the recipient will revert to the principal of the scholarship fund. If, in any year, there is no qualified applicant, the $1,000 will be designated as a gift to the DCHS art department for the purchase of art supplies or equipment. APPLICATION FOR THE EMILY E.
