Oberlin was invited to the Cheyenne Conference League Meet in Ransom as "filler" team in order for the small league to have enough entries to make it a qualifying tournament.

Oberlin was unable to earn sweeps points because we are not a member of their league, but Oberlin students were able to win placements and use the tournament as a qualifying tournament. Many of the Oberlin members broke finals and placed.

"Ransom was probably one of our best tournaments, and just about everyone broke finals and placed.  Everyone had so much fun," said Melissa Hasty.

Placing second and qualifying for the State Championship Tournament were Melissa Hasty in prose, Haley Barrett in informative speaking, and Becky Helm in original oration.

"Everyone did extremely well, and I am very proud of how our team performed," said Haley Barrett.

Jordan McHugh placed third in serious solo acting and is qualified for festival.

Placing fifth were Laysha Medina in serious solo acting, Jacob Helm in informative, and Daniel Jordan in poetry.

The team of Amber Mason and Daniel Jordan placed sixth in improvised duet acting.

Also competing for Oberlin were Jacob Larue and Laysha in prose and the team of Becky and Jacob Helm in improvised duet acting.

"I was really proud of these students," said Coach Leigh Davis.  "They worked hard and earned great experience.  I'm proud of their accomplishments."
