3rd Grade

May 05, 2008

Miranda Long was announced as the 1st place winner in the 3rd grade division of the 14th Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers & Illustrators Contest. Her story, “Lion Moves In”, told how the animals in a zoo planned a surprise party for the new lion.

Leona Breeden from Smoky Hills Public Television came to the grade school on Monday, May 5 to give Miranda her trophy and a backpack full of goodies. Miranda read her story to the group.

The other 3rd graders had their stories returned to them along with Certificates of Achievement and comic books. Miranda’s story will now compete at the national level.
