Some students complain when they have burritos for lunch, but not the Spanish II and II classes. On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Carol Brown took three of her classes to McCook to eat at El Puerto.
She got the idea to take her Spanish students to the new Mexican restaurant after her family took her there recently for her birthday. She thought ordering meals in Spanish at an authentic Mexican restaurant would be a good way for them to practice some of the things they had been learning in class.
The students ordered entrees, such as fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, quesadillas, and deserts like fried ice cream, flan, and sopapillas.
Ashley Horton said, "It was very fun and interesting because I actually got to speak in Spanish to fluent Spanish-speaking people."
Students who enjoyed lunch at El Puerto were Toby Peters, Nolan Peters, Rhiannon Davies, JAcob Helm, Dakota Soderlund, Brandi Diederich, Kira Meitl, Alex Ortiz, Ashley Horton, Cody Kane, Katie Glading, Jacob Larue, Rachelle Scott, Erin Jones, Jordan Dreher, Keithen Fortin, Josh Ritter, Dalton Pauls, and Derek Chambers.
