3 make State Speech Finals

Ashley Horton and Joe Hirsch placed third in duet acting at the State Speech Championship held at Bishop Caroll High School in Wichita. Their comic duet is about a couple raising a son.
Alyssa Rippe also qualified for the finals of the state meet. She placed sixth overall in original oration. Her speech is about the benefits of being an "only" child.
Making it to the semi-final round at state were Makenzie Nelson and Annamarie Larue in duet acting, Nolan Henningson and Amanda Marshall in duet acting, Ethan Merrill in humorous solo acting, Jacinta Carter and Jordan McHugh in improvised duet acting, Annamarie Larue in informative speaking, and Joe Hirsch and Farra McChesney in improvised duet acting.
Also competing at state were Amanda Edmiston and Ethan Merrill in duet acting, Jactina Carter in humorous solo acting, Nolan Henningson in humorous solo acting, Makenzie Nelson in informative speaking, Emma Merrill, Ashley Horton, Heather Ploussard, and Jay Wessel in poetry interpretation.
"I was very pleased with the performances of this team," said Coach Leigh Davis. "We had disappointments, but we also had great success. We have had another exceptional year."
