Decatur Community High School was represented by three wrestlers at State Wrestling on Feb. 26-27: Daniel Jordan, Brent Juenemann, and Nolan Peters.
Daniel placed 3rd at 160 pounds. "It was really exciting and nerve racking," Daniel said. "I was a little disappointed I wasn't in the finals." When he was asked how he felt about placing he said, "It was awesome, and I was really happy to have my mom there for me."
Brent Juenemann, a sophomore, was asked the same questions. He said, "I was really nervous being there for the first time. It felt awesome to make my whole family proud." Brent placed 5th at 125 pounds.
Nolan wrestled incredibly but unfortunately did not place. He is junior and wrestlers at 130. When asked how it felt wrestling at state for the first time, he said, "It was fun and exciting. I was nervous at first, but it was a good learning experience. I'll be back next year and will be bringing home a medal."
Before the finals, Coach Joe Dreher was named the 3-2-1A Coach of the Year by the officials.
