Three students represented DCHS at State Piano Contest held last Saturday at Tabor College in Hillsboro: Nolan Henningson, Caleb Koerperich, and Caitlin Shields.
Nolan earned a I rating on his piece "Poems of the Sea" by Ernest Bloch.
Caleb and Caitlin received II ratings. Caleb played "Prelude" by Glier, and Caitlin played the classic "Fur Elise" by Beethoven.
In order for these students to qualify for state, they had to earn a I at regionals in Hays.
Cheryl Metcalf is the piano teacher for all three students.
Nolan said, "I'm really glad we had such a great day at contest. We worked really hard, and it paid off!"
