DCHS Vocal Director, Susan Nelson is beginning her 29th year in Music Education. She grew up in Laramie Wyoming where she graduated from the University of Wyoming. She began her teaching career in Wheatland, Wyoming, before moving to Oberlin in 1979. She has been teaching 7-12 vocal music since that time.
She works with students on vocal technique, musical literacy, developing self-confidence, team-building and the joy of creating beautiful choral music! Some of the groups and activities she directs are Junior High Choir (7&8), High School Choir (9-12), District Honor Choir (JH & HS), Chante', DCHS Singers, DCHS Musicals, KSHSAA Regional solos & ensembles.
She and her husband Steve, a postal carrier, are proud parents of DCHS junior,Makenzie Nelson. Her hobbies include her pets, decorating, and spending time with her family!
Mrs. Nelson encourages all students to be involved in music. It is a wonderful way to learn those habits of success that will enhance their future life choices! EVERY BODY needs MUSIC!
