About Mrs. Steinmetz
November 10, 2007
Hello, from the Kindergarten building. My name is Diana Steinmetz, and this is my first year of teaching full day kindergarten.
I began teaching in the At Risk Program and Title Math in 1989. I taught Developmental Kindergarten, Transitional First grade, and early childhood special ed for several years. When the district dropped Developmental Kindergarten, I moved to first grade for three years.
I attended University of Nebraska at Kearney and Emporia State University and earned my K-9 regular education, special ed, and early childhood degrees.
Prior to teaching I worked for John Deere as parts manager for 12 years. I graduated from DCHS in 1974. My family homesteaded in Decatur County. Sam (my husband) and I live on the Pollnow homestead west of Oberlin. We have a commercial red angus cow calf operation and farm. I especially enjoy my cows and spend as much time as possible on my farm.
