100th Day of School

February 15, 2010

The 1st grade at OES observed the 100th day of school with a day of celebration.  The students arrived at school as 100 year old people.  After many laughs at their "old as dirt" teachers and elderly classmates, work began.  The students did many activities with 100 as the objective.  The students estimated how far 100 steps would be.  Then they counted the actual steps ending up at the front door.  Next they ventured into the gym and made a big 100 out of bodies.
When the students returned into the classroom, they read The 100th Day of School.   Then they created pictures of what they would look like in 100 years.  Other activities included making a trail mix of 100 items.  Some the different tasty items in the mix were mini marshmallows, M&M's, nuts, and raisins.   The final activity was sharing the trail mix with the 2nd graders will they read The Wolf's Chicken Stew.  A good time was had by all!
