"Annie" is Coming to Oberlin

DCHS Journalism

September 21, 2017

The sweet little redheaded, orphaned girl who stole our hearts is coming to Oberlin. That’s right, Decatur Community High School will be presenting the musical “Annie” on Nov. 11 at 7:00 p.m. and Nov. 12 at 2:00 p.m.

“Annie” (played by Brittney Wesley) is about an orphan in a facility run by the mean Miss Hannigan (Celi Shobe).

Annie believes that her parents left her there by mistake. When a rich man named Warbucks (played by Tyler McHugh) decides to let an orphan live at his home, Annie is selected.

While Annie gets accustomed to living in Warbucks' mansion, she still longs to meet her parents. So Warbucks announces a search for them and a reward.

Director Susan Nelson said she chose “Annie” this year because she thought she would have a lot of girls audition compared to males, and Annie has a lot of women roles. “’Annie’ fit our school,” said Mrs. Nelson.
