Bump it, set it, spike it, love it. The volleyball team had its achievement banquet on Monday, Nov. 6.

This year the athletic department has decided to try something different each year - each sport will have its own individual banquet at the end of their seasons, instead of having all of them together at the end of the year.

At the volleyball banquet, Head Coach Sarah Heeger and Assistant Coach Melissa Dreher served cake and refreshments for the team members and their families. Coach Heeger gave a brief summary of the season and the team’s accomplishments.

This year there were 11 players who lettered: seniors Brittney Wesley and Aspen Gallentine; juniors Jean Soderlund, Kara Haselhorst, and Clayton Carter; sophomores: Alyssa Van Vleet, Anna Carter, Skyler Brown, Kennedy Jensen, and Amy Wentz; and freshman Alana Raile.

Coach Heeger also presented three other awards. Brittney Wesley won the Hard Work award. "It made my heart swell with contentment, but left a pain knowing I wouldn't get to do what I love doing on the court with all my girls one last time,” said Brittney.

The Rookie Award went to the hardest working freshman. This award went to Alana Raile. "I was very excited to receive this award,” said Alana. “I had so much fun this season, and I loved being part of such a great team."

The final award of the night was the Most Improved award, which was given to sophomore Anna Carter. "I was kind of surprised, but I was very excited,” said Anna.  “I am so happy I could be a part of an amazing team this season."

"I am proud of the hard work the girls have put into this season, making it a better one than last year,” said Coach Heeger. “We were able to catch a few wins and plan to come back even stronger next year."
