 Razzle Dazzle Show Choir Clinic

DCHS Journalism

Stacia Russ

January 26, 2018

The DCHS Singers sang and danced the day away at a show choir clinic held in Goodland.

This was the second year the Singers have attended this clinic.  Besides Oberlin, the show choirs from Goodland and Norton also participated in the clinic.

Students worked with a professional choreographer, Jessica Kannady, to learn a dance to a song that all the schools agreed to learn.  Ms. Kannady is the owner/creator of The Right Combination Dance Studio in Goodland.

Ms. Kannady helped the students improve the choreography they already had.  She also taught them a dance to “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake.

After practicing all morning, the students changed into their formal clothes, so they could perform for each other.

After the three schools’ performances, all three show choirs performed  “Can’t Stop the Feeling” one more time.

“I liked the clinic because we got to work with other groups and work with a professional,” said Celi Shobe.

Other DCHS Singers are Brittney Wesley, Stacia Russ, Kara Haselhorst, Drew Juenemann, Tyler McHugh, Faith Meitl, Dani Rouse, Jean Soderlund, Kaden O’Hare, Zac Corbett, David Waterman, Bethany Mason, Trae Woolsey, Erin May, and James Garner.

Ms. Kannady received her Associate of Arts degree from Butler Community College, El Dorado, KS, and her Bachelors of Arts in Music and Dance from Wichita State University. While at Butler, she performed in the "Headliner" show choir. Ms. Kannady has participated in many master dance classes at Broadway Dance Center in New York City and Wichita State University. She also taught dance at Wichita School of Performing Arts while attending college.
