Mr. Jackson is the new PE teacher

DCHS Journalism

The new elementary and freshman physical education teacher is Tanner Jackson from Hot Springs, Ark. Mr. Jackson also teacher freshman health.

Mr. Jackson graduated from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark.  His mother, Karen, is a coding consultant for Himagine Solutions and lives in Wilson.  He has an older brother, Cody, who lives in Jonesboro.

Mr. Jackson said he wanted to be a physical education teacher because he values physical activity and wants to help students understand the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle.

“I hope to make a positive impact with all my students and help them grow as people,” said Mr. Jackson.

Mr. Jackson said he likes to travel, play video games, golf, and watch sports. He said that his students would probably be surprised to learn that he started playing the violin when he was 7.

For Mr. Jackson, the best thing about being a teacher is “when you are able to see growth from your students inside and outside of the classroom.”  The worst thing is “not having enough time to reach every student’s needs.

What makes a good day at school for Mr. Jackson?  “Seeing students succeed and work well with each other.”
