Sixteen students from Carol Brown's Spanish II, III, and IV classes went to North Platte to a concert presented by the Justo Lamas Group. The performer was Edgar Rene from Puerto Rico, and this was his first world tour with the group.

North Platte High School hosted the concert, and they invited other schools to attend.

The Justo Lamas Group Concerts are an educational program with the primary objective of promoting the study of the Spanish language through music. They have been taking their concerts to schools all around the United States since 1998.

After the concert, the students ate at a Mexican restaurant.

Sra. Brown wanted the students to learn about the Spanish culture and music. "We had a good day," said Sra. Brown. "I loved that the Spanish students got to attend the concert and hear, dance and sing Spanish music. They also got to see other Spanish-learning students. The kids did a good job of ordering in Spanish. It was an educating and enjoyable day."

The students ate at San Pedro Mexican Restaurant in North Platte, where they had to order their food in Spanish. Sophomore Emma Anderson said, “It was super fun. At the restaurant, we had to order in Spanish, so that was fun.”

Overall, the students really enjoyed the concert. Many said that they had fun and enjoyed the music. Sam Jimenez said, “I thought it was interesting listening to music that wasn't in English.”
