Rayne Erickson and Lia Jimenez have been selected to the Kansas Choral Directors' Association Treble Honor Choir.

The Treble Honor Choir is an opportunity open to students in grades 5-9 who are enrolled in a choral program in the state of Kansas. Both Rayne and Lia are seventh graders at Decatur Community Junior/Senior High School.

The Treble Honor Choir will perform on February 22 at the Century II Convention Center in Wichita as part of the Kansas Music Educators' Association convention.

For their audition, Rayne and Lia each sang the song “Alleluia” twice for a recording.  Jenny Tally then picked the one she thought sounded better and sent it in.

Honor music is nothing new to either Rayne or Lia. In fifth grade, Rayne was selected for KMEA and KCDA, and this year she was also chosen for KMEA honor band. Lia was chosen for KMEA choir in fourth, sixth, and just recently in seventh grade.

Rayne said, “When Mrs. Tally notified us, I was thrilled. We started texting family. I was so excited and happy.” Rayne is the daughter of Brad and Angie Erickson.

“I was super excited that I had been chosen," said Lia, who is the daughter of Ben and Jen Jimenez.
