A large cast, including several newbies, will present the spring play “RUMBO”--Reconnaissance Undercover Military Operator -- Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 in the DCHS auditorium.

Billed as “an incredible adventure in two acts,” Rumbo is a fast-paced farce, lampooning the action hero, Rocky Schwartzenburger. However, Rocky (played by Taite Woolsey) is not the man we see on the big screen. He's a whiner, with more interest in his manicure than doing any real action.

The military brass decides that Albert Nerval (played by Reegon Witt) is the perfect man to take on the assignment of rescuing Americans held prisoner by Cobra (played by Amy Wentz), in the deepest, darkest jungle.

It turns out the prisoners are four annoying Miss America candidates who got lost trying to find the troops they were to entertain: Miss Iowa (Sarah Abernathy), Miss Texas, (Brynna Addleman) Miss California (Lily Hendrickson), and Miss Mississippi (Jenna Juenemann).

Colonel Zelda Armstrong (Belle Grafel) with the help of Eugen (Jack Mumm) trains Albert for his top secret mission, and soon Albert is lost in the jungle along with the gorgeous and glamorous Cassandry Wembly (Kaylen Ashley); celebrity spokesperson Don Druthers (Trae Woolsey); China Sable (Sage Lohoefener), Dragon, a martial arts expert played by James Garner, and Big Mama Dupree (Anna Carter) and her biker daughters – Charlene (Clayton Carter) and Charlene – her other daughter – (Alissa Sporn); and Rocky, who's really worried he's going to get a hangnail.

A series of misadventures ensue.

The rest of the cast includes Erin May as Lucinda Clump, Courtlyn Waterman as Blanche Fleegle, Dustin Nichols as Bubba Dupree, David Waterman, Chris Long, Logan Hayward, and Tod Mastin as Commandoes, Hunks, and Soldiers.

The director of the play is Janell Marchello.

Ladd Wendelin is the set designer, and the technical and stage crew include Kade O'Hare, Zac Corbett, Josh Russ, Gage Scott, Angela Davis, Sierra Davis, and Malia Bishop.
