Dani Rouse to attend State KMEA

Congratulations to Dani Rouse, who will be participating in this year's KMEA All-State Treble Choir in Wichita on February 21-23.

The All-State Treble Choir and the All-State Mixed Choir will perform a concert at the conclusion of the annual workshop of the Kansas Music Educators' Association at the Century II Convention Center in Wichita. The concert is Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

Students were selected via a rigorous audition process that started at the district level. Dani was chosen for the Northwest District KMEA last fall.  Students with the top audition scores at the district level were then selected for an all-state choir.

The treble choir clinician is Pearl Shangkuan, a highly sought after conductor, lecturer and clinician all across the United States and internationally. Director of Choral Activities and professor of Music at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she is also chorus master of the Grand Rapids Symphony, a Grammy-nominated professional orchestra. Her conducting and teaching engagements have taken her to Australia, Brazil, Canada, South Africa, Austria, France, Switzerland and all across Asia.

Dani was selected for distrtict KMEA choir all four years of high school.  She was also selected for KMEA junior high band in 7th grade and KMEA junior high choir in 8th grade.

She is a four-year member of the DCHS choir and the DCHS band and the daughter of Robert and Robyn Rouse.
