Junior music students do well at festival

Both the junior high band and the junior high choir earned I’s (superior ratings) at the Junior High Music Festival held in Colby on February 13.  Altogether the Oberlin junior high students earned nineteen I’s and four II’s.

 

Band vocalists receiving I’s were Ellie Anderson, Kamryn Oien, Lia Jimenez, Tony Kuhlman, and Rayne Erickson.

 

Earning I’s on their piano solos were Cheyanna Hale, Rayne Erickson, Addison Mathews, and Lia Jimenez.

 

Vocal soloists receiving I’s were Lia, Rayne, Addison, Lacey Quintana, Avery Witt, and Olivia Hughes. Receiving II’s were Taylor Ketterl, instrumental solo; and Gabbie Vontz, vocal solo.

 

The woodwind quartet, consisting of Ellie Anderson, Taylor Ketterl, Cheyanna Hale, and Kamryn Oien earned a I.  The sax quintet received a II: Addie Mathews, Keylee Ritter, Rayne Erickson, Aidyn Witt, and Trennedy Woolsey.

The vocal girls’ ensemble earned a I, and the boys’ ensemble earned a II.

The girls’ ensemble includes Shakira Cook, Rayne Erickson, Ana Freeman, Cheyanna Hale, Lia Jimenez, Taylor Ketterl, Addison Mathews, Karlee McCluskey, Katrina Neal, Kamryn Oien, Keylee Ritter, Maci Weigel, Dani Weyeneth, Aidyn Witt, Trennedy Woolsey, Ellie Anderson, Alana Bishop, Breyana Gehring, Olivia Hughes, Gabi Johnson, Lacey Quintana, Gabby Vontz, and Avery Witt.

 

The boys’ ensemble is made up of Bryant Addleman, Josh Juenemann, Braeden Ketterl, Landen Ketterl, Grady Lohoefener, Eli McCluskey, Teague Morford, Gavin Seller, Blake Garner, Tony Kuhlman, Jace Ostmeyer, Parker Stragey, Mason Urban, and Lukas Zodrow.

 

The junior high vocal teacher is Kathryn Haffner.  Devin Carey is the instrumental teacher.
