Junior High hosts scholars' bowl

Last Thursday, the school hosted its annual junior high scholars' bowl tournament. Seven other schools competed at the tournament.

The Oberlin eighth grade team won three and lost four of their rounds, while the seventh grade team won two and lost five of their rounds.

The eighth grade team beat Dighton 75-40, Colby 90-30 and Oakley 60-10. They lost to Norton 80-30 and Rawlins County 70-40. The team had really close matches against Sharon Springs and Hoxie. Unfortunately, they lost both of them by a score of 60-50.

The eighth grade team consisted of Rayne Erickson, Lia Jimenez, Kamryn Oien and Trennedy Woolsey.

The seventh graders beat Norton 60-30 and Colby 50-20. They lost to Dighton 70-50, Rawlins County 30-10, Sharon Springs 60-40, Oakley 60-40 and Hoxie 50-30.

Competing on the eighth grade team were Bryant Addleman, Olivia Hughes, Josh Juenemann, Braeden Ketterl, Landen Ketterl and Grady Lohoefener.

"The team tried their best, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to get as many wins as we wanted," said seventh grader Lia Jimenez.

Sierra Lohoefener is the junior high scholars' bowl coach.
