Decatur Community High School musicians received 11 ones and 10 twos at state music on Saturday, April 27 at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina. 

Vocal soloists who received a one rating were Faith Meitl, Dani Rouse and Sarah Abernathy.

 

Earning ones on their band solos were Erin May and Dani Rouse on flute, Faith Meitl on violin, and Josiah Weyeneth on trumpet. 

 

Skyler Brown, Malia Bishop and Lily Hendrickson earned twos on their vocal solos.

 

Band soloists who were given two ratings were Faith on trumpet, Isabel Grafel on French horn, Jean Soderlund on baritone saxophone and clarinet, and Spencer Wishon on baritone. 

 

Vocal ensembles that earned ones were the DCHS singers (Emma Anderson, Skyler Brown, Zac Corbett, James Garner, Lily Hendrickson, Drew Juenemann, Erin May, Faith Meitl, Kaden O'Hare, Dani Rouse, Jean Soderlund, David Waterman, Taite Woolsey, and Trae Woolsey).

 

Sophomore Women's ensemble also earned a I. This group includes Sarah Abernathy, Emma Anderson, Lily Hendrickson, KeLynn Jacobs, Melody Koerperich, Mackenzie Urban, and Gracie Vontz.

 

Also earning I’s were DCHS Singers' Senior Women (Faith, Dani, and Jean), and the DCHS Singers' Men (Zac, James, Drew, Kaden, David, Taite, and Trae).

 

Band ensembles that received two ratings were the saxophone quintet, the Woodwind quartet, the trumpet trio (Faith, Kaylen Ashley, and Amy Wentz), and the Flute trio (Erin, KeLynn, and Melody). 

 

The saxophone quintet includes James, Josh Russ, David, Taite, and Jean, and the woodwind quartet is Isabel, Dani, Jean, and Taite.
