Update on Graduation 2020

July 05, 2020

Because of the surge in COVID cases across the state and seniors' family and friends coming from all over, the graduation ceremony for the DCHS Class of 2020 has been changed to 10:00 a.m. to the DCHS football field on July 18.

According to Principal Brenda Breth, keeping the graduation ceremony as originally planned – 2:00 p.m. on July 18 in the high school gym – just isn’t the safe or smart thing to do.  "After talking with the seniors, we agreed to move graduation outside as well as move up the time to avoid the heat of the day," said Mrs. Breth.  In case of bad weather, graduation will take place in the high school gym, but each senior will be limited to 10 guests so that everyone can spread out.

Prom will go on as planned on July 11: promenade at 6:30 with the dinner, dance, and post-prom at the Gateway. However, all students and guests will have their temperature taken upon arrival at the Gateway.  Anyone with a temperature over 100.3 will be required to leave. Mrs. Breth said that health professionals have also recommended we try to spread the kids out – especially during the meal. Masks are not required, but it is recommended that all guests bring a mask for the dance.
