American Education Week celebrates public education by honoring those who are making a difference.

 

Kansas State Board of Education members in honor of American Education Week, Nov. 16-20, accepted a resolution supporting all of the dedicated school personnel in Kansas in recognition of their hard work, sacrifices and commitment, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our educators provide a high quality education for all their students. They truly love their students,” said Superintendent Joel Applegate. “Even with these uncertain and challenging times, they are providing great opportunities for students.  Please take time to thank them this week. We truly appreciate our educators.”

 

The Kansas State Board of Education signed and approved a resolution thanking all school personnel in Kansas for their hard work, sacrifices and commitment, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

R E S O L U T I O N

KANSAS STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION

Nov. 10, 2020

This Resolution expresses support for all the dedicated school personnel in Kansas in recognition of their hard work, sacrifices and commitment for the benefit of students, community and state.

WHEREAS Kansas schools have been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic; WHEREAS administrators, educators, paraprofessionals, nurses, food service workers, custodians, maintenance workers, bus drivers, counselors, social workers, librarians, local boards of education, administrative staff and many others are the backbone of Kansas schools;

WHEREAS the Kansas State Board of Education fully recognizes the extraordinary efforts of all frontline educational workers to ensure every Kansas student remains safe and engaged in quality learning during this time of challenge and uncertainty;

WHEREAS Kansas educators are delivering education via multiple learning environments in order to provide for the safety and unique needs of their students as created by the pandemic;

WHEREAS Kansas parents, families and communities have stepped up to support their schools and student learning during this difficult and unprecedented time in history;

WHEREAS the week of Nov. 16-20, 2020 is designated as “American Education Week” by the National Education Association and serves as an appropriate time to duly recognize the heroes of Kansas education; Now, therefore, be it Resolved, that the Kansas State Board of Education supports and honors all the individuals who work to make a difference in our state’s schools, especially during the time of COVID-19.
