Art is underway at both schools! JH and HS started with copying some master works to set up a skill baseline for the year. JH then moved into contour drawing and gesture drawing, with lots of fast and loose drawings. HS moved into simplifying complex shapes into base shapes, using still life setups to work on scale and proportions. OES got their new sketchbooks set up and started reviewing bubble, block and 3D lettering, as well as reviewing value and primary colors. They were also thrilled to go back to building their empires! At the OES we studied the art of Kathe Kollwitz Outbreak and Piet Mondrian Windmill in Sunlight.
