Josiah Pattangall will represent the junior high at the county spelling bee on Friday. Josiah won the junior high bee with the word “alternate” after 11 rounds. Runner-up was Cowen Anderson.
Competing in the school spelling bee were Cowen, Kira Burmaster, Conner Kier, Madilyn Mohr, Josiah, Caden Shaw, Dash Warren, Trevor Witt, and Sarah Wright.
The Decatur County Spelling Bee is Friday at 2:00 in the DCHS auditorium with Josiah, Cowen, Job Kliewer and Callen Gish. The winner of the county bee will qualify for the Kansas State Bee.
