I am writing with great sadness to inform you that one of our former students has died. Our thoughts and sympathies are with their family and friends. All of the students were given the news of the death by their teacher this morning. The cause of death has not yet been determined by the authorities. We are aware that there has been some talk about the possibility that this was a suicide death. Rumors may begin to circulate, and we have asked the students not to spread rumors since they may turn out to be inaccurate and can be deeply hurtful and unfair to family and friends. We’ll do our best to give you accurate information as it becomes known to us. Members of High Plains Mental Health Crisis Response Team are available to meet with students individually and in groups today . High Plains also has counselors available and can be reached at 1-785-628-2871.
